Private duty care is a subset of general home care that is provided to seniors who require assistance with their day-to-day activities and help them remain safe and comfortable in their own homes. The only difference between private duty care and other home care services is the payment method. It is typically not covered by Medicare and is typically paid for by the client or a long-term care insurance policy.
Private duty care includes:
- Personal care – bathing/dressing, hygiene, transfers, and ambulation
- Homemakers/companions
- Meal preparation
- Medication reminders
- Care for specialized conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease
- Transportation for doctor’s visits, grocery shopping, and other needs
